What is 2diff Business?

2diff Business by 2diff.io is web-based financial analytics software that explains a small business's numbers in plain language. It reads your QuickBooks^® Online reports or works from annual figures you type. Free runs on sample data, AI chat included; Bronze is $9.99 a month with no AI; Silver is $19.99 a month with AI on your own numbers; and Gold is coming.

Does 2diff Business work for service businesses like landscaping or HVAC?

2diff Business works from the standard profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reports, so it fits any industry that keeps books in QuickBooks Online. The free demo uses a fictional landscaping company with six years of figures.

What does 2diff Business do that my accountant does not?

Your accountant ensures your books are accurate and your taxes are filed (essential work). 2diff Business adds the analysis layer that most small businesses are missing: automated financial statements with trend analysis, 23 financial ratios tracked over time, KPI dashboards, and AI-powered interpretation of what the numbers mean. It fills the gap between having accurate books and actually understanding what they are telling you about your business.

How is the AI different from ChatGPT?

Unlike a general AI chatbot, 2diff Business's AI has direct access to your financial analysis: your actual statements, ratios, and trends from QuickBooks. When you ask a question, it analyzes your specific data, not generic information. Only summary-level data is shared with the AI. Individual transactions and sensitive details stay private.

Should I still talk to my CPA after using 2diff Business?

Yes, when you need professional guidance. 2diff Business gives you the analytical foundation (the trends, ratios, and patterns in your data) so that when you do sit down with your CPA, you are having a more informed conversation. You know what questions to ask because you have already seen what the numbers show. For tax decisions, compliance questions, or major financial strategy, a qualified professional is always the right call.

How is 2diff Business different from a bookkeeper or fractional CFO?

A bookkeeper keeps the books accurate, and a fractional CFO advises on decisions. 2diff Business automates the recurring analysis between those visits (statements, ratios, trends and plain-language explanations) for $19.99 a month on Silver. It is analysis, not advice.

How does 2diff Business compare to hiring a fractional CFO?

2diff Business automates the structured financial analysis that represents a significant portion of what consultants and fractional CFOs produce: financial statement analysis, ratio calculations, KPI tracking, and trend identification. The built-in AI explains the results in plain English. At $19.99/month on Silver, while fractional CFO retainers commonly run in the thousands of dollars a month, it provides the analytical foundation at a fraction of the cost. For businesses that need strategic financial advisory, a fractional CFO still adds value, but 2diff Business handles the analytical work that supports those conversations.

Is the AI giving me financial advice?

No. 2diff Business provides financial analysis and interpretation. It explains what your numbers show and identifies patterns and trends. It does not provide professional financial, tax, or accounting advice. You review the analysis and apply your own business judgment. For decisions that require professional guidance, consult a qualified financial professional.

Can I use 2diff Business without AI features?

Yes. 2diff Business Bronze has no AI at all: statements, ratios, trends and a forecast from figures you type. On Silver, AI is optional, and every report and dashboard works without it.

Which AI models are included with each plan?

AI comes with 2diff Business Silver: 3 fast, low-cost models and 8 stronger reasoning models, 11 in all, from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google. The stronger reasoning models include the flagship models GPT-5.5, GPT-5, Claude Opus 4.8, Claude Opus 4.7 and Gemini 2.5 Pro. You can switch models during a conversation. 2diff Business Bronze has no AI, and Gold, with premium models, is coming.

How many AI questions can I ask each day?

There is no fixed question count. 2diff Business Silver has a daily AI allowance of up to 5 million tokens or $0.64 of model usage a day, whichever comes first, resetting at midnight UTC. A question on a flagship model uses more of it than one on a fast, low-cost model. 2diff Business Bronze has no AI.

What AI providers do you use?

2diff Business offers a curated selection of AI models from three providers: OpenAI (the GPT-5 family), Anthropic (Claude), and Google (Gemini). New models are added as they ship. You choose which model to use and can switch anytime. Each provider's published API terms state that API content is not used to train their models; we do not control those terms. What reports can I generate?

2diff Business provides comprehensive financial reporting:

• Profit & Loss Statement: Revenue, expenses, and net income over any period
• Balance Sheet: Assets, liabilities, and equity at any point in time
• Cash Flow Statement: Operating, investing, and financing cash flows
• Ratios: Profit margins, liquidity ratios, efficiency metrics, and observations
• Display Modes: View each statement as dollars, dollar change, percent change, or common-size percentages
• Forecast: Project future periods using the Level, Growth, Drivers, and Goals methods

How often is data refreshed?

2diff Business keeps a copy of the reports it reads so the app loads quickly, and reads them from QuickBooks again once that copy is older than:

• 4 hours for the current year
• 7 days for last year, since late adjustments are still possible
• 30 days for earlier closed years
• 24 hours for your company details and chart of accounts

The Refresh data button in Settings reads the current year again at any time. We only read your reports. We never create, change, or delete anything in your QuickBooks data.

Can I export reports?

Yes. Each statement offers:

• Download CSV: The statement on screen, for Excel or other tools
• Download Workbook (CSV or Excel): The full statement set in one file

Look for the export buttons above any statement.

What time periods can I analyze?

Use the Period and Years controls in the sidebar to frame any period you have data for:

• Annual, quarterly, or monthly grouping
• The most recent 3, 5, or 10 years
• Year-over-year comparisons
• Month-over-month trends
• Quarterly and monthly detail come from connected QuickBooks Online books on Silver; figures you type are annual.

Do I need QuickBooks to use 2diff Business Silver?

No. 2diff Business Silver also works from figures you type. Connecting 2diff Business Silver to your books requires an active QuickBooks^® Online subscription. If you do not use QuickBooks Online and do not need AI, 2diff Business Bronze ($9.99/month) works from a few annual figures you type in.

Which QuickBooks versions are supported?

2diff Business currently supports QuickBooks Online (all editions):

• Simple Start
• Essentials
• Plus
• Advanced

QuickBooks Desktop is not currently supported but may be added in a future release.

What permissions do you need?

Intuit offers one accounting permission for apps like 2diff Business, and it covers both reading and writing; there is no narrower option to request. What matters is what we do with it. 2diff Business only reads:

• Company information: business name, address, fiscal year settings
• Chart of accounts: your account list and balances
• Financial reports: Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow

2diff Business never:

• Creates, changes, or deletes anything in your books
• Reads individual transactions or customer and vendor lists
• Sees your banking credentials or payroll data
• Makes payments or executes transactions

How do I disconnect?

You can disconnect 2diff Business from QuickBooks at any time:

1. Log into 2diff Business
2. Open the Accounting Data panel in the sidebar
3. Click Disconnect QuickBooks
4. Confirm the disconnection

Alternatively, you can revoke access directly from your QuickBooks Apps page.

Disconnecting inside the app revokes our access and permanently deletes your stored financial data, saved goals, valuations, and analysis right away, so download any statements you want to keep first (Download CSV or Download Workbook on each statement). What if my connection expires?

QuickBooks OAuth tokens expire periodically for security. When this happens:

• The Accounting Data panel in the sidebar shows “Reconnect required”
• Click the connect button there and log in to QuickBooks again
• No data is lost: you will have immediate access to your reports again
• The reconnection takes about 30 seconds

My reports show different numbers than QuickBooks

This can happen for a few reasons:

• Timing: Data may have changed in QuickBooks after your last refresh. Try refreshing the report.
• Cash vs Accrual: Check that both systems are using the same accounting method.
• Periods: Ensure you are comparing the same periods.
• Pending transactions: Some transactions may be in a pending state in QuickBooks.

I cannot connect to QuickBooks

Common solutions:

• Pop-up blocker: Disable pop-up blockers for 2diff.io
• Cookies: Ensure cookies are enabled in your browser
• Intuit login: Make sure you can log into QuickBooks directly first
• Permissions: You must be an admin on the QuickBooks company file
• Browser: Try a different browser (Chrome recommended)

The AI isn't answering my question correctly

Tips for better AI responses:

• Be specific about what you want to know
• Include the time period you are asking about
• Ask about one topic at a time
• Try rephrasing your question differently
• Ensure your QuickBooks data is up-to-date

I'm getting an error message

Note the exact error message and:

1. Try refreshing the page
2. Log out and log back in
3. Clear your browser cache
4. Try a different browser

Yes. The Free plan costs nothing and needs no card: sign in and explore 2diff Business on a sample company, AI chat included. The demo needs no account at all. When you are ready for your own numbers, 2diff Business Bronze ($9.99/mo) needs no accounting software at all: you type in a few annual figures and get full statements, ratios, trends, and a forecast, with no AI. AI on your own numbers comes with Silver.

Yes. Plan changes are handled in the Stripe billing portal, which opens from Manage Subscription on your dashboard.

Do you offer annual billing?
